Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 7, 2005 at the Hill Funeral Home Chapel, 601 hwy. 80 East, Haughton, LA; with Rev. Charles Glorioso, of St.

Pius Catholic Church and assisted by Rev. John Cannon, pastor of Faith Community Methodist Church Youngsville, LA. Masonic Graveside rites will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Sunday, November 6, 2005 at the Hill Crest Funeral Home. Mr. Dauman was preceded in death by his parents, Clara Semper and Josef Dauman, his first wife, Elizabeth Boone Dauman, and a son, James B. Dauman. Survivors include his wife, Carmela Serio Dauman; two sons, Daniel J.

Dauman and wife Patti of Shreveport, LA; Richard S. Dauman and wife Judy of Houston, TX. Also, step-children, Al Cannon and wife Barbie and Carol Gore and husband Merle, all of Shreveport, LA; and fifteen grandchildren. Mr. Dauman began his Dayton, Ohio at the Wright Field Experimental Laboratory.

After beginning a New Career with the Federal Housing Authority, he served three years in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, and a second stint during the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge, he assumed his position with the FHA and retired with the Association. A second career was begun in residential construction and drafting. Membership included the American Legion, Elks Club, Retired Government Employee Club, and Cross Lake Dance Club.

He was a member of the Joppa Masonic Lodge No. 362 and recently received his 50 years membership pin from the Grand Lodge of Louisiana. Mr. Dauman was also a 32nd. degree member of the Scottish Rite Lodge.

A Shriner, he held membership in the ElKarubah Legion of Honor. Members of this Honor will serve as Pallbearers. They are Bobby Brooks, James Kelly, Pat Houston, Joe Rachal, Charles Shearer, Frank Falkenbverry, John Smith, and Charlie Peters. He was born in Dixie, Louisiana on January 25, 1919 to Sam and Aline Woodbridge Sentell; grew up in Shreveport; attended Byrd High School and LSU in Baton Rouge where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order.

Gene and Mary Jane Querbes, also of Shreveport, married on July 27, 1940. Throughout his life he believed their marriage was the main reason for his happiness and success. Gene spent his career in the natural gas business. He worked for the Arkansas-Louisiana Gas Company for 5 years before being drafted into the Navy, serving on the destroyer CJ Badger in the South Pacific. Their final engagement was the battle of Okinawa.

He and Mary Jane were active members of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, where he served a term as Senior Warden. After their move to Houston, they became members of St. Divine Episcopal Church. Gene was fortunate to be among the first employees hired by the new Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation.

In 1961 Texas Eastern (now Duke Energy) moved him and their headquarters to Houston where he was sales manager and later in charge of customer relations the company's hunting and fishing lodges, retiring in 1984. He was a fantastic wing shot, even when using his .410. He introduced many, who became life long hunters, to the Gene was a member of the Colonneh Club, serving a one-year as president, enjoying their camaraderie as he had with all the many friends he made throughout the years. Gene loved his wife, his family, his company and his country, and was grateful for the life he was offered. His family and friends will cherish their memories of his humor, kindness and optimism.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; his wife's parents, Randolph and Mary Gertrude, Querbes; sister, Novaline and brother inlaw, Tetine and John Terrell; nephew, Randolph Terrell; and his beloved Boston Terrier, Dixie. He is survived by his wife; son, Gene and wife Dianna; daughter, Tetine Werlein and husband Chip; grandchildren, Tetine Sentell and husband Craig McHenry, Cliff Sentell and wife Lisa, Clair Werlein and Kate Werlein; great grandson, Linden McHenry; brother, Bill Sentell and wife Nancy; nieces, Mary Terrell Joseph, Jane Terrell Johnson, Nancy Jane Sentell Seale and Linda Sentell Wright; nephew, Will Sentell; and many extended family members for whom he cared deeply. "Charlie" as he was fondly called by his many friends, had lived and worked in Bossier City all of his life. He had retired from the Bossier City Fire Department after 23 years of service, retiring as a District Chief. He loved being outdoors and spent many days on the lake or in the woods. He also loved athletics and watched and kept up with local teams.

For the past few years, Charlie could be seen on his tractor cruising around on the land near his home. Charlie had a deep love for his family and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them.
