In Luna and Poppy's apartment, Poppy insisted she didn't know how the backpack had gotten there, but she said Bill knew all about the false claims and Poppy's relationship with Tom. She said Bill understood it, and Poppy needed Luna to understand it, too. Poppy claimed she had always believed Bill was Luna's father, but she'd had lingering doubts that Tom might be right.
Poppy revealed that she'd seen Tom again when he'd spilled water on her at Il Giardino, and he'd delivered pizza to the house. Remembering it, Luna asked if it had been the night of the concert. Affirming it, Poppy said it was when she'd taken matters into her own hands.
Poppy asserted that she'd had nothing to do with killing Tom. She'd been intent on stopping Tom's lies, not killing him. She'd needed Tom to accept that Bill, not Tom, was Luna's father. Luna gleaned that Poppy had done it the night he'd died, and she asked why Poppy hadn't told her. Poppy claimed to be trying to protect Luna, not to stress her about Tom.
Poppy figured Tom had sneaked the backpack there for Luna to find. Poppy didn't know anything except that Bill was Luna's father. Luna noted that the only person contesting it was dead. Poppy insisted she hadn't had anything to do with the deaths. Poppy wanted Luna to trust her and help her through it with the same Nozawa power they always had. The women hugged, and Poppy decided to head to Bill's house. Luna said she'd show up there later.
In Eric's office, Carter, R.J., and Katie greeted Brooke and hailed Brooke's successful launch. Ridge said Brooke's Bedroom was back and better than ever, and R.J. noted that the line was still trending. Brooke wondered what she and Ridge had missed and if there was any news about the murders at Il Giardino.
Later, Carter ended a call with a contact and informed everyone that there was nothing new, but the police were considering all possibilities. Ridge said not Sheila, and R.J. wondered who else would run around killing people. Carter remarked that it might have been accidental overdoses, but Katie replied that until it was proven, they should all be on guard.
Katie suddenly decided she had somewhere to be. She left, and Brooke wondered what was going on with her sister. Carter took off to check on Katie. R.J. received a message from Luna, who wanted to see him. Ridge reminded his son to bring him a pizza. Alone with Brooke, he asked if she'd leave him, too. Brooke said she was where she was supposed to be -- in her life, in her career, and in his arms.
Back in Luna's apartment. R.J. arrived and saw that Luna seemed shaken. Luna said she never wanted to keep anything from him again. He asked what had happened and if she'd done something. She murmured that someone else had. Pointing to the backpack, she said she'd found it there, and he wouldn't believe what was inside.
Luna handed R.J. a stack of letters. He said that they were from the deceased Tom to Poppy. R.J. asked what Tom would have been writing to Poppy about, and Luna revealed that Tom had believed he'd been her father.
"Psycho much?" R.J. asked, looking over the letters. R.J. got why the situation was upsetting. Luna revealed that it wasn't what she was upset about. She couldn't figure out how the backpack had gotten there, and Poppy had said she hadn't had anything to do with it. Luna added that Poppy had confronted Tom on the night of his death.
R.J. asked what Luna was saying. Luna didn't think her mother would ever hurt anyone, but she'd do anything to protect Luna. Luna couldn't fathom it but said they had to face the fact that Poppy had a history of drug use, which was how Tom and Hollis had died. Luna exclaimed that Poppy had sworn she'd had nothing to do with it, and Luna felt she had to believe it.
Luna was freaked out. She apologized for dragging R.J. into it. Hugging her, he said they'd figured it out.
At Bill's house, Liam grimaced, saying, "Poor kid," after Bill told him that Will had walked in on Bill and Poppy. Bill said it hadn't been smart of him to ask Will to embrace Luna right after that. Liam agreed that it was a bit much, but Bill thought Will would love them once he got to know them. "Who doesn't love Poppy and Luna?" he asked.
Liam asked where Will was. Bill revealed that Will was staying with his mother, and it would take some time for him to accept that he had a sister. "And the fact that her mom is living with you instead of his," Liam added. Liam believed Will would come around. Bill said Will would have to because Bill wouldn't hide how much he enjoyed his new life. Liam noted that having a daughter had changed Bill, and it was nice to see him happy. Bill said it was due to Poppy.
Later, Bill and Poppy were alone kissing. He asked how things had been at the apartment. She said that being at the apartment had reminded her of how much she appreciated being with Bill. She never wanted to lose him. He said she wouldn't, and he was devoted to her always.
At Il Giardino, Deacon was on the phone, asking a restaurant critic to reassure his readers that the restaurant had been given the all-clear. Deacon listened as the critic asked more questions, and Deacon replied that the question one should ask was why it had happened.
Later, Katie strode in, looking to Deacon as if she was on a mission. Katie had questions about the deaths that had occurred there. Katie expressed sympathy for Deacon's losses and asked about Sheila's release. Deacon didn't want to hear suspicions about his wife. Katie revealed that she had suspicions about another woman, the new woman in Bill's life.
Guessing Katie had a problem with Poppy, Deacon said Bill had been a fool to let Katie go. Katie claimed she was concerned, not jealous, and she'd had a weird feeling about Poppy, who'd waited 20 years to get a paternity test. Katie questioned Bill moving the women in.
Nearby, R.J. arrived to pick up his pizza. He saw Katie questioning Deacon. Deacon stepped away to take a call, and R.J. told Katie had he'd overheard her asking Deacon about Tom Starr. R.J. said he had some information, but Katie needed to keep it confidential. R.J. revealed that Luna had shown him Tom Starr's old backpack, which had contained letters in which Tom had claimed to be Luna's father. Katie wondered if she could be right about Poppy killing Hollis and Tom.
