WHAT WE'RE TRACKING:

• Cold front/storms Thursday afternoon/evening
• Fall-like weekend ahead
• Very dry after Thursday

PLANNING THE NEXT 24 HOURS:Temperatures won't be quite as cool overnight with lows in the middle 50s. Thursday will start out dry, but a few showers and thunderstorms are expected for the afternoon and evening. The storms will move from the northwest to the southeast throughout the day. So northwestern areas will see the rain earlier (afternoon), with southeastern locations seeing the rain a bit later (evening). Although some pockets of heavy rain are possible, we are not expecting widespread heavy rainfall nor are we expecting any severe weather. Temperatures will still be warm Thursday with highs near 80, but a big cool down is expected after that.

EXTENDED FORECAST: The cold front that'll bring storms Thursday will also bring the coolest air we've seen for months across southern Wisconsin for the weekend, with low temperatures in the lower to middle 40s and high temperatures in the 60s. Temperatures will warm right back up next week with highs in the upper 70s/lower 80s from Monday through the following weekend. We also are expecting very dry conditions after Thursday's rain, and the consistent dry weather we are expecting for the foreseeable future may cause some drought conditions to develop.
